Issues of the Development and Standardization of Georgian Legal Terminology – Ioseb Kelenjeridze’s Assessment on Television
Ioseb Kelenjeridze, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Humanities and Social Sciences at European University, was a guest on Georgian Patriarchate Television "Ertsulovneba", where he spoke about the proper use of legal terminology in the Georgian language.
Within the framework of the discussion, particular attention was devoted to the problem of the incorrect use of legal terms in Georgian legal practice and in the media. Kelenjeridze noted that terminological precision carries special importance in the field of law, as it is directly connected to the correct understanding and application of legal norms.
It was also noted during the program that work is currently underway on the development of a Georgian legal dictionary, which will constitute an important resource for the Georgian legal community. The dictionary will facilitate the establishment of a unified standard of legal terminology, which will simplify the activities of professional lawyers and assist journalists and the broader public in the correct use and consolidation of legal terms.
According to Ioseb Kelenjeridze, the creation of a Georgian legal dictionary represents a significant step toward the development of legal culture, the improvement of legal communication, and the strengthening of professional standards.
