Law Week
May 15-17, 2018, International Law Week was organized by the European University Institute of Law. Within the framework of the week, representatives of the judicial corps of the Minnesota state (USA) met with Georgian lawyers. Georgian lawyers were given a unique opportunity to share the experience of judges invited from the USA and draw parallels with the Georgian legal system.
Among the judges were:
Bill Koch;
Paul Anderson;
Mary Yunker;
Dean Heilgers;
Jack Rice.
On May 15, the American judges met with the representative of the state agencies of Georgia and learned about the features of the law enforcement system of Georgia. Meetings were held in the Chief Prosecutor's Office of Georgia, the Supreme Council of Justice, and the Georgian Bar Association.
On May 16, the guests held public lectures at the European University, which, in addition to students, was attended by Georgian lawyers and practicing lawyers. The event took the form of a lecture series, with each speaker speaking on a specific topic for 25 minutes, followed by a discussion on the issue presented.
The following issues were discussed at the event: the US electoral process; criminal proceedings in the US; US law schools; jury selection system; the US Constitution; Sentencing guidelines in Minnesota.
On May 17, the week ended with an international conference. The guests participated in the international conference organized by the Institute: “Current Problems of Justice”
16 მაისს სტუმრებმა საჯარო ლექციები ჩაატარეს ევროპის უნივერსიტეტში, რომელსაც სტუდენტების გარდა ქართველი ადვოკატები და პრაქტიკოსი იურისტებიც ესწრებოდნენ. ღონისძიებას ლექციათა ციკლის სახე ჰქონდა, თითოეული სპიკერი კონკრეტული თემის ირგვლივ 25 წუთის განმავლობაში საუბრობდა, რის შემდეგაც მოხსენებული საკითხის შესახებ დისკუსია იმართებოდა.
ღონისძიებაზე მიმოიხილეს შემდეგი საკითხები:აშშ-ს საარჩევნო პროცესი; სისხლის სამართალწარმოება აშშ-ში; აშშ-ს სამართლის სკოლები; ნაფიცმსაჯულთა შერჩევის სისტემა; აშშ-ს კონსტიტუცია; სასჯელის შეფარდების გზამკვლევი მინესოტაში.
17 მაისს კვირეული საერთაშორისო კონფერენციით დასრლდა. სტუმრებმა მონაწილეობა მიიღეს ინსტიტუტის მიერ ორგანიზებულ საერთაშორისო კონფერენციაში: „მართლმსაჯულების აქტუალური პრობლემები“.
