Conference – Georgian Competition Law and Policy in the Times of the Digital Economy
On February 15, 2025, the European University Institute of Law organized a conference titled “Georgian Competition Law and Policy in the Times of the Digital Economy” at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel.
The event was attended by academic staff from European University, representatives of the Georgian Competition and Consumer Protection Agency, and other interested parties.
The conference served as the final event of a fundamental research project that won a 2023 grant from the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation. Additionally, the presentation of the book Georgian Competition Law and Policy in the Times of the Digital Economy, developed as part of the project, was held.
The conference was opened by the Director of the Institute and project lead, Ioseb Kelenjeridze, who spoke about the project's objectives and significance. He emphasized that the project resulted in the creation of legal literature that will be incorporated into the syllabi of law programs at higher education institutions, contributing to the enrichment of the limited Georgian-language legal resources on competition law.
Presentations were delivered by project researchers and co-authors of the book, Gvantsa Chaduneli and Giorgi Parulava, as well as Salome Kavatardze, Head of the Legal Department at the Competition and Consumer Protection Agency of Georgia, and Levan Maisuradze, Head of the Legal Division at the Communications Commission.
Daniel Fernando Quintero, a research fellow at the Paris-Panthéon-Assas University’s Center for Legal Research and the project’s international consultant, joined the conference remotely from Paris.
The event concluded with a discussion session.
